For security reasons, it is better not to use the default VPN port suggested by PiVPN because open port scanning is a prime attack method for hackers. One of the reasons you need to do this now is the open port will be required during setup. It’s easier to do this now, as this information is required during the PiVPN setup. Now that you have a static IP address, you will need to forward a port to the PI’s static IP address.
You should then verify that the static IP address is correctly saved (both by your Router and the Pi). Once you have set the static IP configured, it’s a good idea to restart your Pi.
